R-Gear was to be a follow-up to RayForce which introduced among other things, a new fighter that became the basis of the R-Gray 2. Not too much is known about the game's status (whether it was completed or not) but a teaser video exists showcasing mainly the first stage and both ships. It is believed to have been replaced by RayStorm due to newer technology and thus the need to make a game that was made to match the graphics style.
The video was contained on a disk called RAY-RAY CD-ROM which contained a good bit of RayStorm material along with the aforementioned video.
In RayStorm HD, one of the two purchasable ships is named R-Gear in honor of this unreleased game.
